OpTic Chicago reportedly selling its Call of Duty League slot to the Overwatch League's Washington Justice

Washington Esports Ventures are "one of two serious parties" looking to buy the CDL slot the report suggests.

HQ

There have been a number of reports and pieces of information that all state that OpTic will be merging with Team Envy, and that as part of the merger, the OpTic Chicago roster will become the Dallas Empire. These reports all seem to suggest that as part of this deal, OpTic Chicago will be selling its Call of Duty League slot, with a very recent report alleging that the Overwatch League's Washington Justice are an interested buyer.

The report comes from DotEsports who mentioned that the Justice's ownership group, Washington Esports Ventures are "one of two serious parties" that are in the running for the CDL slot, which is currently owned by NRG Esports.

Until anything official is announced, we do have to take this information with a grain of salt, but if the sale does end up going through, we can probably expect the Justice owners to want to move the CDL franchise to Washington, to align with its OWL team. Either way, with CDL seasons usually beginning early in the new year, we can probably expect to hear more about the situation sooner rather than later.
