Porsche has revealed that they've partnered with iRacing for a new World Championship Series, where 40 participants from all over the world will race in the 911 GT3 Cup, with $100,000 USD on the line.

The tournament consists of 10 racing weekends and takes place exclusively online, with qualification beginning next month and the competition itself running for several months after.

This is just another step in the partnership between Porsche and iRacing too, as they've been working together since last year, including on the Porsche SimRacing Trophy back in September.

"Porsche is more and more involved with esports and racing simulations. Putting together a world championship like this one is important evidence of our increasing commitment to the sport," comments Dr. Kjell Gruner, Vice President Marketing at Porsche. To coordinate the event, the Zuffenhausen-based sports car manufacturer collaborated with iRacing, a leading provider of realistic online racing simulations that has been putting on world championships for ten years. The competition will take place under this title for the first time, as a completely new series with competitors racing from all around the world, connecting through the iRacing service.

When the tournament kicks off you can follow all 10 rounds on YouTube, so stay tuned for that.
