SK Gaming defeat Cloud9 to win ESL One Cologne

Their trophy cabinet keeps growing.

  • Text: Sam Bishop

ESL One Cologne wrapped up this past weekend, and a team that many people may have considered favourites going into the competition, SK Gaming, took home the title after facing Cloud9 in the final.

The final wasn't a close affair, with Cloud9 facing a 3-0 defeat on Cobblestone, Train, and Inferno, but they did put up some resistance against the onslaught, with players like Jake 'Stewie2k' Yip producing some excellent plays for Cloud9.

Cloud9 should hold their head up high, though, as they beat the likes of TyLoo and Immortals before the playoffs, where they defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas and Natus Vincere to get to the final. SK themselves defeating FaZe Clan and OpTic Gaming in the playoffs, although a wobble against the latter meant they were initially down 1-0.

Are SK the best team in the world right now?
