Yesterday Evil Geniuses announced that Lee "Jaedong" Jae Dong will be retiring as a StarCraft II player at the age of 27.

Described as "an absolute legend of the Brood War era, and EG player since 2012", the post celebrates Jaedong's contribution to Evil Geniuses and says that this weekend's BlizzCon will be the last time he will be in action.

To commemorate Jaedong's career, Evil Geniuses are offering limited edition Jaedong Legacy Jerseys for pre-order now.

The post also contained a statement by the man himself, which reads: "I don't think I'll ever be able to forget the three years I spent with team EG. I made so many great memories while being active overseas, and I would like to say thank you to my teammates and the staff who always treated me with kindness. Thanks to EG, I was able to meet many new people and my attitude toward my own life changed while travelling through various places around the world. I believe that the time I spent here matured me not just as a gamer, but also as a human being. I will always cheer for Team EG's success in the future. May EG be the best and everlasting team."

Evil Geniuses also celebrated his career on Twitter, and Jaedong's own Twitter featured the emotional message: "Please don't forget Jaedong from esports. and Thank you for those of you who sent me nice messages."

Team Liquid acreated a retrospective for Jaedong as well, which can be viewed here. Is Jaedong up there with your favourite StarCraft players?
